Search Engine Optimisation. A broad term to describe work done on a website, as well as on other websites to point back to yours (so Google thinks your site is important).

SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, what search terms or keywords are typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience. Optimising a website may involve editing its content, HTML and associated coding to increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines (i.e. onsite SEO). Enhancing the backlink profile of a website – increasing the number and quality of inbound links – is another SEO tactic (i.e. offsite SEO).

This all depends on competition and keyword phrase being targeted. We will provide an estimate from the outset of when we expect to have particular keywords reach page one and where possible, position on the page.

Google uses around 200 different factors to determine how to rank a particular website in its search results, and the time it takes to achieve optimum results can vary for different websites. Typically, there is noticeable movement in the rankings of a website within the first 4–6 weeks from the start of a campaign, and achieving 1st page rankings can take between 3–6 months.

The longer the duration of an SEO campaign, the better the results. For most websites, a minimum campaign of 6–12 months is recommended to achieve meaningful results. Once an appropriate ranking has been achieved it is necessary to continue optimising the initial keywords to stay on top of ongoing Google (and others) changes, but by this point we should have enough opportunity to target a new set of keywords.

While the benefits of our SEO service are long-term (unlike ads which are short-term, for the length of time you run the ad), there are a number of factors that determine the likelihood of you maintaining your position:

  • Changes in the search engine’s algorithm.
  • Intense competition, resulting in a number of competitors’ websites overtaking your site in search results pages.
  • Change in your website’s structure, resulting in previously indexed pages to disappear.
  • Issues related to web hosting – instability or servers, change of IP addresses, slowness of page loading speed, blocking access of search engine bots, etc.

The benefit of SEO over paid ads is that there is longevity to the work – even if you cancel your plan with us, your site should retain (roughly) its ranking; until such time competitors surpass you with their SEO efforts. The work that is done has a long-lasting effect. Organic search results (the actual search results, rather than paid ads) are also known to be more trusted by users and therefore more likely to be clicked.

Search engines can change their algorithms, impacting a website’s rankings and visibility, possibly resulting in drops in ranking. Google modifies its algorithm around 500–600 times every year – almost 1.5 times per day. Most of these updates are minor, but occasionally there are major changes that can significantly impact a site’s search rankings.

Once we receive your subscription, we’ll send you an email within 24 hours asking you some questions about your website and business, as well as any suggestions from you for keywords you’d like to rank for. From there we will do keyword research and suggest the best options for your campaign (for your approval). We’ll also conduct an onsite SEO audit, if we haven’t done one already for you. 

Over the years we have found we need a minimum of 12 keywords in order to give us enough diversity in our offsite SEO work, so that Google looks more favourably on our efforts and improves your site rankings. 12 is the minimum number we work on.

  • An initial SEO analysis – it’s used to ascertain our target keywords. You are also welcome to share your wishlist for keywords to rank for, so we can determine their suitability.
  • An initial full onsite optimisation report. This onsite report is code and content optimisation to better align your site with its SEO goals. Generally after the initial onsite optimisation work (apart from ongoing new pages) there is little that needs to be done onsite in most cases.

Ongoing Offsite SEO work, which is wide and varied and includes the likes of: article posting, profile creation, business listings, free ads, URL shorteners, social media, directory listings, blog directories, image sharing, and ping submission.

In order to be fully transparent with you, the continuing deliverable for our subscriptions will be a weekly Excel spreadsheet, and shows the type of work we do and the page ranking of all targeted keywords.
